Splashes of all kinds of gold from white, light metallic to bright olympic top level medal has hit NYC hard. From a Marc by MJ striped lurex dress to a fanned velvet puff dress, to Karen Walker pointed booties all shades of gold have lifted the somewhat dark and sombre Winter colour palette without being flashy in your face gold card. Hardly any ghetto gold jewels have been around despite Kanye trying to assist any designer who will listen.

For young new faces nothing is better than starting off the fashion month getting booked for some NY shows. These fresh faced six are heading towards bigger and grander goodie bags and free clothes. I chose these as my favorites of the newbies….Jac with those haunting blue eyes, Tao who is rocking the bowl- i tried it for a while and was mocked, Mathilde has that upside down pout, Dorothea and those cat like almond eyes, Hanna looks like my dream Russian alter ego outfit and all and Alla and her perfect nose! Now there’s just some patient waiting for the European bookings to roll in.

leather GOODS

Winter in New York is all about ice skating in Central Park and hence leather jackets, leggings and dresses were a plenty. When I first visited NY and went sneaker shopping in Brooklyn it was all about leather bombers with embroided dollar bills, I was tempted but I knew it was a definate case of being a little caught up and I was a lot less ghetto than I thought I was. I would love a high waisted leather skirt though.
