CHRIS ISSAK

I have finally jumped on the palomino horse drawn band wagon. Twenty five years later than most. Chris Issak is in town again and my brothers and I decided to escort my dad for his birthday. I was going in the hope of seeing some cowboys, quiffs be-dazzled cuban heeled boots and maybe some boot scooting in the Palais Theatre isles. No cowboys…just long grey haired women hoping to get a serenade from the twinkled eye crooner. Well master Chris stepped on stage in his Barbie pink sequinned suit and I stood in the dreamy line hoping to be the one picked to go on stage…yet a little worried as I only know the four hits thanks to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet. Now the whole C&W farm boy is not my thing…BUT my god he is charming in the flesh. “All the ladies who are single and looking for love put one hand in the air, great now I know who to pursue after the show!”How very countrified Beyonce. Usually I am about rthym n blues Usher style, I dropped the R and took on some country blues and was awestruck by the whole choreographed dancing band even from my nose bleed tickets..( I actually thought the nose bleed section was right up the front-so close to the action you get elbowed in the nose!) to my dismay we were almost back row and I could barley see my new stage crush. As my smiling brothers and dad swayed along I could tell they were also drawn into the eerie romanticised land of Issak. Weird FACT???? He is still SINGLE….supposedly…How can he be single, the crowd was an over 30’s single gals get in free disco! Now it’s time to YOUTUBE the Chris Issak hour where guests like Stevie Nicks, Smashing Pumpkins, Chicago, Glen Campbell, Michael Buble and Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) play a spontaneous acoustic number or an onstage performance on his new and improved tv show.
